About Contender
Contender was an important breeding stallion with superb lines, expressive and very charismatic. He was characterized by first-class conformation, balanced and rhythmic movement and tremendous jumping ability with very good technique. Contender’s dam, Gofine, was bred for 20 years and produced 17 foals: all but one became sport horses, first and foremost the German Champion Ulina by Chicago (Susanne Behring). The superior winner of his stallion performance test, Contender was very much in demand right from the start and used for many mares in Holstein and other studbooks. Particularly in combination with “blood mares” he produced quality foals, and the list of successful offspring grew longer and longer: Collin (Toni Hassmann, GER), Controe (Jörg Kreutzmann/Marco Kutscher, GER), Constantin (Markus Beerbaum, GER), Chellano (Jos Lansink, NED/BEL), or Clou (Carsten Otto Nagel, GER) – to name just a few.
