Thunder v/d Zuuthoeve collected sporting merits with Jan van Dijck and Jos Lansink (BEL): The achievements of the Argentinus-Nimmerdor-Lord son under Jos Lansink include runner-up in the Belgian championships and numerous placings at national grand prix level with Jan van Dijck, before a sport injury lead to a premature end of his career. Thunder‘s dam Jura competed in the world championships of the young jumping horses herself, and is also dam to the licensed stallions Wunder Boy van de Zuuthoeve by Argentinus and Voltaire van de Zuuthoeve by Guidam. Thunder v/d Zuuthoeve’s most well-known offspring include Elstar Imperio Egipcio (Frank Schuttert/NED), HH Azur (McLain Ward/USA) Depardieu van‘t Kiezelhof (Guy Williams/GBR), Domingo (Daniel Deusser/GER) and Eurocommerce Seoul (Wout-Jan van der Schrans/NED).
Damline
For much of his sport horse career, Turbo Z remained in the possession of his breeder, Wijnand van Stam, who has been breeding the stallion's dam line with great dedication for quite some time now. The Dutchman breeds around five foals a year, which he keeps himself and has further trained, depending on their suitability. “Fortunately, I turned down the offers to sell Turbo's second dam back then, otherwise he wouldn't be around today”, he says.
The Renville-Nimmerdor-Heidelberg-Ladykiller/TB mare Gicini was shown at 1.55m level herself by Gerfried Puck (AUT) and produced 15 foals for van Stam. Four of them jumped to 1.60m level: Kor II by Holsteiner stallion Elmshorn, Asterix Z by Altlantus Z, Nan by Jus de Pomme and finally – Gicini’s last foal – Turbo Z.
Own performance of Turbo Z
Turbo Z got his first taste of the international circuit under Dutch rider Michael Greeve, who brought him up to five-star and Nations Cup level. He then went to Kevin Jochems' (NED) stable, who later described him as an “incredible horse” with whom he had built an extraordinary connection. Winning the CSI5* Longines World Cup in Oslo likely counts among their greatest moments. Their track record includes further placings at the highest levels at Lyon, Valkenswaard and St. Gallen. Initially licensed by AES and BWP, Turbo Z has now been approved by the Holsteiner Verband.
