Dark Zuccero attracted attention right away with his first appearance – and impressively confirmed the great expectations at the 2025 grading of the Holsteiner colts. The stallion, who had already been secured by the Holsteiner Verband stallion keeping GmbH for own purposes as a foal, presented himself in a class of his own and was thus crowned champion stallion.
18 years after the triumph of his sire Diarado, history repeated itself in impressive fashion. “What a horse! A magnificent dark coat, correct conformation, excellent jumping, and, of course fantastic bloodlines”, breeding director Stephan Haarhoff described the champion stallion when he was announced. Dark Zuccero impressed with his presence, natural athleticism and free jumping which left nothing to be desired in terms of technique, ability and judgement.
In view of his correct conformation and proven performance pedigree, Dark Zuccero should be a very interesting choice for a broad range of mares with sufficient height and frame.

Sire
His sire Diarado, born in 2005, is one of the most important sport horse sires of modern times. By exceptional sire Diamant de Semilly, and out of a dam by Corrado I, he combines elite genetics. His Neumünster grading in 2007 went down in history for its impressiveness: outstanding type, a solid and strong top-line, perfectly correct legs and exceptional jumping ability made him the undisputed champion. Diarado exceeded all expectations also as a breeding stallion. Four times he topped the WBFSH eventing sire ranking and also established a reputation as a reliable top jumping horse sire.
Damline
Dark Zuccero comes from one of the top achieving Holsteiner performance mare families. His dam, state premium mare Zaresa by Caretino, is also dam to team European Champion and Olympic horse, Zuccero HV. Expertly produced by Rolf-Göran Bengtsson (SWE), this Holsteiner is now very successfully shown at international level by Maximilian Weishaupt.
Mare family 4539, which has been expertly bred by the Köhncke family of Badendorf for generations now, stands for steadfast performance attitude and international success and has produced top horses such as Chin Chin by Constant, Can Ya Macan by Canturo, Scuderia 1918 Princy by Casall, Libertino by Landgraf I and Elysium by Zirocco Blue.
Dark Zuccero thus perfectly combines sporting excellence, modern genetics and a proven Holsteiner performance legacy.
