About Carthago Sitte

As suggested by the name, this young Zangersheide stallion has famous relatives: recently approved for the Holsteiner studbook, three-year-old Carthago Sitte is a half-brother to Vatson Sitte, successfully shown at 1.60m level in Spruce Meadows (CAN), Deauville (FRA) or Budapest (HUN). Following his licensing for German Sport Horse, Carthago Sitte has now been approved for Holstein.

Considerations for breeding

He will be an excellent choice for typey, light mares when aiming to improve in terms of ability and jumping quality. Carthago Sitte himself is a careful jumper with a lot of spirit.

Pedigree of Carthago Sitte

Sire

Known to put his stamp on his offspring, Carthago has shaped an era both in terms of breed and sport. 130 licensed sons and around 150 show jumping offspring at 1.60m level impressively confirm his hereditary prowess. Carthago was brought into the sport in Holstein by Bo Kristoffersen. Later, he competed at the Olympics twice under the saddle of Jos Lansink, in Atlanta (USA), where he finished eleventh, and four years later in Sydney (AUS). His time at stud in Holstein has produced numerous successful sport horses, such as Cash (Marco Kutscher), Classix Girl (Sören von Rönne) and Campus, who competed in the Aachen WEG with Kamal Bahamdan in 2006. Also by Carthago is Cim Christo, who represented the Korean colours at the 2004 Athens Olympics with Bong Gak and was later successfully shown by Georgina Bloomberg in the USA. Another stallion deserving mention is Mylord Carthago (out of a Jalisco B dam): with Penélopé Leprevost, the licensed grey was on the silver winning French team at the Kentucky WEG and used to be one of the most successful jumping horses in France. Colman, Cartani, or Cardino are famous licensed sons, as well.

Damline

Carthago Sitte’s damline is characterized by distinguished producers. His dam, Casta Sitte Z, alone has produced numerous 1.60m level show jumping offspring, the most famous of them the licensed Vatson Sitte by Cardento. Also his half-brother, Curtis Sitte by Ugano Sitte, was successfully shown over the highest dimensions by Hans-Dieter Dreher, and is licensed by German Sport Horse and other studbooks. His second dam, Nialta Sitte, a full sister to Ogano Sitte, has also produced several international jumping horses, such as Sherman-Sitte. Gute Sitte is the name of this dynasty’s foundation mare: a successful sport horse herself, she secured bronze at the Montreal Olympics with the Belgian team and also demonstrated her hereditary potential as a broodmare. Countless sport horses same as the world-famous stallions Ogano Sitte and Aganix du Seigneur trace back to foundation mare Gute Sitte.
