“We have seen many horses perform a very natural jump“

The 2024 licensing of the young Holsteiner stallions got off to a brilliant start on Friday, Fresh and in good spririts, 50 colts aspiring to a breeding license trotted around the race track at the Verband Elmshorn facility this morning in front of the crowd. “On hard surface this morning, we have seen both light and shade. Many quality horses with correct legs and very good movement, but also some with structural flaws”, grading inspector and Olympic champion Lars Nieberg described his impressions of the presentation on hard surface.

In the afternoon, the colts finally entered the Fritz-Thiedemann-indoor arena to present themselves in the “major Holsteiner discipline”, jumping, in front of a grandstand packed to capacity. The experienced free jumping team led by Alexandra Bitter gently and expertly accompanied the young talents, so that all horses had the opportunity to present themselves to best advantage. “Today, the colts were given the opportunity to find their feet in the spirit of horsemanship, with not too many jumps and moderate heights. We noticed favourably that many horses performed a very natural jump. Some of the young stallions have already recommended themselves for premium status, but we’ll take a closer look tomorrow“, Lars Nieberg summed up his first free jumping impressions. Anticipation is rising for the second free jumping scheduled for Saturday morning, starting at 8am.

Highlights in the afternoon
