Nine pairs qualified for the jump-off to decide the winner in the six-year-old show jumpers’ class. With a clear round in 36.27 seconds, the Holstein gelding Cincinnati by Comme il faut-Cardento (Michael Eitel), line 2666, ridden by Sophie Hinners, secured the title of National Champion.
Cincinnati, the new National Champion of six-year-old show jumpers, was the clear winner in the M** show jumping class. And this despite the fact that, having performed solidly in mid-table during the qualifiers, very few people are likely to have had him on their radar.
As the second rider in the jump-off, the Holsteiner completed the course in 36.27 seconds. None of the seven pairs that followed could beat this time. “I’m very proud of Cincinnati,” she said at the prize-giving ceremony. “I haven’t known him for very long at all; I’ve actually only borrowed him from David Will,” she admitted. The newly crowned team world champion had ridden Cadoc by Casall to victory in the five-year-old show jumping class just a few hours earlier.
Also making it through to the jump-off were Moh by Million Dollar-Cascavelle (Dirk Schröder), line 238, and Frank Wagner. The pair finished seventh, ahead of Unico To by United Way–Contendro I, line 890, (Klaus Knickrehm) and Tobias Thoenes in eighth place. Katharina von Essen and Crime is Blue by Crime is Blue–Chacco-Blue (Sascha Piotrowski) finished tenth, narrowly missing out on the jump-off due to a time fault.
