Top Genetics Meet Festival Atmosphere: Holsteiner Foal Auction in Hörup
(Hörup) The seventh edition of Springflut Festival will take place in Hörup from 8 to 12 July. For five days, riders, equestrian sport enthusiasts, families and friends will come together to enjoy the combination of top-level sport, unique experiences and a genuine festival atmosphere. A key feature of the festival is the foal auction organized by Holsteiner Pferdefreunde in cooperation with the Holsteiner Verband on 11 July – and this year’s lot is now online.
In 2026, visitors can again look forward to a varied programme with highlights in equine sports and special events that go beyond the competition itself. As usual, the grand prix on Sunday will be the equestrian highlight. But Springflut Festival is more than just a horse show: James Farm will open its gates and provide insight into modern farming and the breeding district of Schleswig-Flensburg organizes a foal championship.
From WBFSH Athletes and World Champions
The carefully selected 16 head strong lot assembles bright young prospects from performance tested dam lines carrying internationally sought-after blood. A highlight right at the start is lot 1, Enrique P by Emerald van het Ruytershof-Quibery. This colt’s second dam is legendary stallion and sport horse producer, Conella by Colman, dam to Bull’s Runs Jireh (Kristen Vanderveen/USA), runner-up in the 2025 WBFSH ranking and to his full brother, Uno I by Uriko, in his day Holsteiner reserve champion of the licensing.
Lot 9 is called King, a Keaton son out of a Larimar-Quick Star dam. His second dam is Toulouse, who is none other than the halfsister of Laura Kraut’s Olympic team gold medallist Zeremonie.
After the success of last year’s charity auction, a beef cattle heifer called Oda and a pair of laying hens - Hilde & Waltraut – will be put to auction with the proceeds to go to “Little James Farm”, the nursery which is being set up on James Farm.
Before the auction, potential buyers will have ample opportunity to get a full picture of the collection, as the foals will be presented on 11 July around 2:30 pm in the show jumping arena where they can be viewed in a relaxed atmosphere. Chats and talking shop with other horse persons as well as direct contact to the breeders provide an ideal setting for getting to know the next generation of Holsteiner sport horses.
When the bidding at auction begins at 8:00pm, everybody is looking ahead: towards young talents, great expectations and the future of the sport.
All information, pedigrees and videos of the foals are now available for viewing on www.holsteiner.auction. It goes without saying that marketing manager Felix Flinzer (+49 162 3493942) will be happy to answer any questions you may have.
