State Championships, Auctions & Verband Mare Show: Saddle Up for the Holsteiner Horse...

The Holsteiner Verband stallion grading held for the first time at Elmshorn past winter impressively confirmed the facility’s ideal suitability for big-scale events. For the first big outdoor event of the year, friends of the Holsteiner horse and equestrians from all points of the compass will come together for the Holsteiner horse days at Elmshorn on 13-16 June 2024.

Visitors are in for quite a few treats: the state championships of the four- to seven-year-old jumping horses, the five- and six-year-old dressage horses and the qualifiers for the National championships for riding horses are on the schedule, same as other high calibre classes in the show jumping and dressage arena up to S level. The event begins on Thursday, 13 June with the dressage. Friday, 14 June will see the state champions in dressage crowned and the first qualifiers of the show jumpers. In the late afternoon, the presentation of the riding horses to be auctioned, a jumping class at S* level and the Welcome Night will set the mood for the varied weekend. On Saturday morning (15 June), following exiting finals, the four- and seven-year-old state champions will be honoured and around noon the Herbert-Blöcker-outdoor arena will belong to the auction foals which are presented live before they are put to auction early in the evening, same as the riding horses. Following another show jumping class at S level, the equestrians will replace their riding gear for shorts and compete for fame, glory and valuable prizes in a volleyball tournament. On Sunday, 16 June, the spotlight is on the Holsteiner mares: at the Verband mare shown, the very best Holsteiner mare will be selected from this year’s registration tour. In addition to this, the title “Holsteiner mare of the year” will be awarded to a particularly successful Holsteiner brood mare, representative for the extremely well bred mares which are the Holsteiner breeders’ pride and joy, and rightly so, as they form the basis of the breed. Afterwards, the five- and six-year-old jumping horses compete for the state champion titles.

Auction Comeback and Live Experience
With the horses to be sold in the foal and riding horse auction to be published shortly, this much can already be revealed: 29 young talents have made into this year’s foal selection. They are by Casall, Million Dollar, Keaton, Cahil, Charaktervoll, Ermitage Kalone, Chaccothage Blue, Chacfly, Diamant de Semilly and many other sought-after sires. Marketing manager Felix Flinzer’s riding horse lot offers nine promising jumping talents between four and six years of age. “This is the first time we will have a summer auction offering ridden horses again after several years. And we have succeeded in putting together a small but select lot of promising sport horses”, says Flinzer.

The overview of the schedule says it all: visitors are offered a varied programme at Elmshorn – with no live streaming in favour of the on-site experience. Only the presentations of the foals and the riding horses as well as the auction will be broadcast live by ClipMyHorse.tv. Everything else will be available in the media library after the event. Admission to the entire event is free!
