Holsteiner Horse Days on 8 - 11 June: A Stage for the Best

From 8 to 11 June, the Holsteiner Verband is once again to host a high-quality horse related event at Elmshorn. Visitors may look forward to the Verband Mare Show, the State dressage and show jumping Championships, qualifiers for the National Championships, a foal auction, and an exciting supporting programme.

As usual, the budding dressage horses are the first to compete on Thursday as well as on Friday morning, before the Herbert-Blöcker arena is given over to the jumping horses from Friday noon. The first state champions in the show jumping arena in the four- and seven-year-old class are crowned on Saturday morning, and the first public presentation of the high-quality auction foal selection takes place at around 1.00 pm, before the auction sale kicks off at about 4:30 pm. 21 young talents have made it into this year’s collection of the foal auction. They are by Crack, Zirocco Blue, Uriko, Eldorado van de Zeshoek, Clarimo, Charaktervoll and many other sought-after sires. “I’m very happy, that also for this auction, our breeders have entrusted numerous very interesting foals to us, very convincing with regard to type and movement but also regarding to the performance of their relatives”, says auction manager Felix Flinzer. The collection also comprises two young hopefuls carrying dressage blood, one by world champion Glamourdale, the other by the young sire, Infantino. The afternoon is to see the celebration of a significant birthday, with Verband stallion Clariomo turning 20. Having been a successful contender on the international stage with Rolf-Göran Bengtsson himself, he now promotes the Holsteiner horse on the breed and sport scene. Saturday night will offer loads of opportunities for socializing: Following the S** level jumping class with jump off, at about 8.45pm, the Herbert-Blöcker-outdoor arena is turned into a soccer pitch. The tournament Kickers meet Holstein is to play several matches on a knock-out system, and it is not just about honour and glory, but winners and runners-up are given wristbands worth a total of 600 euros at the cocktail booth. It’s one of the places among other food, drink and shopping stalls inviting visitors to stay all through the event.

Looking for the Champion Mares on Sunday
Sunday begins with a high-light right away, the traditional Verband mare show at 9.00am in the Herbert-Blöcker- outdoor arena which will decide on the successors of last year’s shining champion mares, Melypsa and My Romanciera. “We have seen a genetically diverse age group at the mare inspections“, says breeding director Stephan Haarhoff. “Both proven sires and fortunately also a great number of younger stallions have interesting daughters presented at the Verband mare show.” The show of the best at Elmshorn introduces a novelty: For the first time ever four-year-old mares (without foal at foot) may vie for the champion title. And from now on the occasion of Holsteiner horse days, the title “Holsteiner mare of the year” is awarded to honour a mare’s outstanding performance as a broodmare and the sporting merits of her produce. The state championships of the five- and six-year-old jumping horses round off the Sunday.

The foals on offer in the auction sale on 10 June are available for online viewing with pictures, videos, and comprehensive information on their relatives’ performance on www.holsteiner.auction. For all questions about the auction and the foals themselves, do not hesitate to contact Felix Flinzer (+49 162-3493942). To enter the soccer tournament Kickers meet Holstein, send an email giving the name of the team and the players’ first and last name to Jessica Hatje (jhatje@holsteiner-verband.de) by 10 June 2023, 12:00 noon.
