The top-priced foal at the third edition of “Tomorrow’s Champions by Holsteiner” is Unique Kiss Way by United Touch S-Uriko. The mare, bred by Hartwig Schoof (Hedwigenkoog) from the 1916 line, was sold for 55,000 euros at the Holsteiner Verband’s foal auction held at the Warendorf Riding Club’s grounds.
Unique Kiss Way impressed with her exceptional sporting pedigree. Her dam is a full sister to Uricas v/d Kattevennen, who enjoyed international success under Harrie Smolders (NED). Her third dam is the 1.60-metre show jumper Chica’s Way, ridden by Janne-Friederike Meyer-Zimmermann. Derby winner Carassina, United Way HV and Clearway also hail from this successful family. Her sire is, moreover, the newly crowned team world champion United Touch S (Richard Vogel).
Unique Diamillion KNT by Diamant de Semilly-Plot Blue (Wojciech Kasperski, POL-Nowy Tomysl) fetched 25,000 euros. This charming filly is out of the full sister to Million Dollar.
Kaboom by Keaton I out of Quinar (Klaus Thiedemann, Oesterwurth) and Elitär by Emerald van’t Ruytershof out of Quidam de Revel (Witt Pferdezucht GbR, Wellinghusen) followed, each fetching 23,000 euros. Kaboom, from line 2543, combines Keaton HV – most recently third in the Rolex Grand Prix in Dublin under Arne van Heel (NED) – with the time-honoured ‘Thiedemann line’. The direct dam line includes, amongst others, Camilla van de Helle, ridden by Kevin Jochems (NED), and Buchwald’s legendary Loreana.
With Elitär, the name says it all. The colt from line 741 comes from a top-class sporting family: his dam is a full sister to Quadros, who enjoyed success at 1.60-metre level under Marco Kutscher. Further up the pedigree, there are also other internationally successful sport horses, including VDL Cardento, ridden by Peter Eriksson (SWE), and VDL Caretello, ridden by Darragh Kenny (IRL).
The Holsteiner Auction in Warendorf has once again demonstrated what the concept is all about: top-class sires, strong dam lines and close links to successful sport horses – with an eye on the champions of tomorrow. In total, the 33 foals in the collection achieved an average price of around 16,000 euros.
