Top Prices at Falsterbo and Hörup

The Holsteiner Verband had scheduled as much as two foal auction sales on 11 July. Both at Springflut Festival in Hörup and against the setting of Falsterbo Horse Show in Sweden, the young Holsteiner talents on offer demonstrated impressive quality and attracted the interest of domestic and foreign buyers.

The auction in Falsterbo, Sweden, was an extraordinary success. With an average price close to 17,500 euros and a 100 per cent turnover, the auction once again highlighted the international demand for Holsteiner genes. The top price of 30,000 euros was paid for U-Stutsborgs Zara by Zuccero-Emerald van het Ruytershof bred by Stutsborgs Youngsters (Dänemark). As expected, the filly’s pedigree had commanded a huge response, seeing that her second dam, high-profile Kaprice by Echo van't Spieveld used to be shown up to international 1.60m level by Kent Farrington (USA) and comes from the famous Belgian Roosakker mare family.

In Hörup, the top price was realized by young male Echo von Hörup P by Echo van't Spieveld-Marome NW bred by the breeding partnership Timm Peters and Matthias Bärtschi (Bargenstedt). This foal impressed with an international calibre bloodline, as well, with his dam none other than Andrea, Geert-Jan Bruggink’s lightning fast success mare. The promising youngster sold for 23,000 euros to Kühl & U.P. Showjumping. At Springflut festival, the foals sold for around 12.500 euros on average, with turnover at 93 per cent.

“The results of both auctions clearly demonstrate that Holsteiner foals are very much in demand, in Germany as well as on the international stage. I was particularly pleased that breeders with the courage to use our young and younger studs have been rewarded; I’m saying this especially with our former champion stallion, Conchezz, in mind, whose first crop has proved very impressive throughout and whose foals fetched very good prices, at 17,000 and 10,500 euros, respectively”, Felix Flinzer, executive director of the Holsteiner Verband marketing and auction GmbH, summed up the weekend.
