Grading and Elite Riding Horse Auction: Wide Range of Stallion Candidates

At last, in less than four weeks the Holsteiner horses are going to enter the Neumünster Holstenhalls with the proud breeders presenting their uncut diamonds at the stallion grading and elite riding horse auction. After the three- to five-year-old riding horse lot, the colts presented for grading are now also available for online viewing on holsteiner.auction.

70 promising stallion candidates have been admitted to the Neumünster highlight by the committee comprising breeding director Stephan Haarhoff (Kiel), Micheal Gonell (Eckernförde), Horst Klaus Heleine (Ober-Ramstadt), Lars Nieberg (Sendenhorst) and Christian Thoroe (Friedrich-Wilhelm-Lübke-Koog) this year. Once again, the lot is strongly influenced by the Cor de la Bryère line, with six colts by Casall alone. His sons Cascadello I, Central Park, Chopin, and Cieran, same as his grandsons Charleston, Clarksville, and Christer send offspring, as well. Three sons of Cornet Obolensky are among the Cor de la Bryère representatives, as well, while the L sire line is represented by three colts by Livello or else Larimar. In addition to that Diamant de Semilly is present with his sons and grandsons, providing the desired genetic diversity through Diarado, Dominator Z, and Denver. Verband stallion Uriko sends three sons to the Holstenhall arena this year, his son United Way premieres with as much as three stallion candidates. Other candidates which might provide interesting genetic alternatives are by outcross sires like Emerald van het Ruytershof, I’m Special de Muze or Manchester van’t Paradijs. “The lot of the stallion candidates has never been as diverse as this year”, breeding director Stephan Haarhoff points out. “We have seen many very modern horses with quick and scopey jumping.”

Colts Now Online
The colts’ pedigrees, photos, and videos are now available for online viewing on holsteiner.auction, same as the about 45 elite riding horses. X-rays and veterinary examination reports will be available there from 10 October. “In view of many request of exhibitors from past years, in 2021 the final decision on a colt’s availability for sale may be made on Friday evening after the free jumping”, says executive director and auction manager Roland Metz. “This means more flexibility for all those involved”. Roland Metz is happy to answer all questions around the auction and the horses themselves (phone +49 171 4364 651, email to: rmetz@holsteiner-verband.de).
