With the Holsteiner Verband auction sales currently coming in rapid succession and twelve top foals put to auction just a few days ago, we proceed smoothly to next week’s Holsteiner Highlight Sales held in the northernmost part of Holstein. In Hörup, near the Danish border, ten selected foals and four talented young jumping horses are waiting for new owners on 10 July in the frame of Springflut Festival, a horse show with jumping classes through S*** level.
In cooperation with the organizing team around horse show manager Stephan Johannsen, Roland Metz, executive director of the Holsteiner Verbandes, has put together a selection providing an interesting mixture of progeny by young stallions as well as proven star sires for the customers. “I am happy for the Holsteiner Verband to be present at one of the most modern national horse shows”, says Roland Metz. “We have launched this pilot sale together with passionate and experienced breeders. I’m certain we complement each other nicely with the cooperation definitely representing a win-win-situation. I’m very much looking forward to the Hörup event”, Metz continues. Clarimo used to be successfully shown at international level by Rolf-Göran Bengtsson and is represented by as much as three foals. Other than their well-known sire, there is one thing these foals all have in common: pedigrees secured through proven Holsteiner performance mare families with impressive sport and stud merits – as is the convention in the land between the seas. For example hip no 6, a colt with modern make and shape from mare family 318D2. The direct damline has been bred for generations at Fohr, the North Sea island, and has already produced a great number of championship contenders, including H&M Chilli Willi (Nicola Philippaerts), who died much before his time, Glock’s Cognac Champlanc (Gerco Schröder) or else Camiro (Tony Andre Hansen). When looking for a filly with choice genetics, lot no 10 might be worth a closer look. She is also by Clarimo and out of a dam by Casall, the Holsteiner studbook’s poster boy. What is more, her damline has also produced Chepetta, a maresuccessfully shown at 1.60m level by Celine Schoonbrodt de Azevedo and Kevin Staut.
Cornet and Co.
Two foals are by the reigning champion of the Holsteiner six-year-old jumping horses, Crack by Cornet Obolensky, one of them out of a dam by Quidam de Revel son Quadros, the other out of a dam by Quibery (by Quintero). Lot no 1, a filly called Chique, also carries Quibery on the dam’s side. Her sire is the 2019 Holsteiner champion stallion, Cahil by Cornet Obolensky, and her second dam is Conella, a Colman daughter whose produce not only includes three licensed stallions - Quabri, Uno I and II – but also an Uriko offspring also called Uno currently successfully shown in the youngster tour at 1.40m level by Lena Glisic. Those with a liking for international blood should have a closer look at for example hip no 8, a colt by Patrick Stühlmeyer’ Varihoka du Temple – the combination was longlisted for the Tokyo Olympics – out of a Numero Uno dam. The young sportsman is called Variety Star and his family includes some famous 1.60m jumpers, like Quante (Nicole Persson) and Ambiente (Ali Yousef Al Rumaihi). The other foals are by Hardrock Z, I’m Special de Muze and Dubliner. Anybody looking for a sport partner to get started right away into the ongoing season, is to succeed among the four riding horses in the collection, four- and five-year-old, and to some extend already with first results in competition. For example the Colman daughter Jassina, who performed convincingly right away at her very first outing, taking home a young horse jumping class.
While the first public presentation of the auction horses and foals is scheduled for Friday, 9 July at 3:00pm, the hybrid auction sale begins on Saturday at 6:00pm. For videos as well as detailed information about the entire lot and the auction sale visit www.holsteiner.auction.
