The collection of the traditional Holsteiner elite foal auction held as part of the Holsteiner Foal and Family Festival on 14 and 15 August at the premises of the Holsteiner Verband Elmshorn facility comprises around 50 carefully selected foals. On 14 August, a collection reflecting the wide spectrum of modern Holsteiner jumping horse breeding will go under the hammer at the Herbert-Blöcker-outdoor arena. Internationally sought-after sires such as Million Dollar, Cascadello I, Uriko and his son, United Way, Chacotage Blue, Ogano Sitte, Kassander van't Roosakker and Pegase van't Ruytershof are being represented by offspring same as up-and-coming younger studs such as Vigado, Duplexx, and Kantato.
Anticipation is running high in particular for the first auction foals by four-year-old stallions, Cognac, and former Holsteiner champion stallion, Conchezz, who finished second and third, respectively, at the Holsteiner State Championship for four-year-olds in June. Both of them present their first crop of foals at the elite auction and expectations are high in terms of their breeding quality. Conchezz, a Colestus son, in particular, commanded attention with foals auctioned at a high price at Hörup and Falsterbo.
Champion Relatives Lot 2, King Charles by Calido I-Caretino from the famous Holsteiner mare family 776 is a prime example of the collection’s exceptional quality, with his second dam, Operette, one of the Holsteiner studbook’s most distinguished broodmares. Her successful produce includes Vienna Olympic (Sheikh Ali Khalid Al Thani/QTR), finalist of the Caen WEG, the licensed stallions, Forino by For Pleasure and Diamant de Operette by Diamant de Semilly (Diarmuid Howley/IRL, both) same as former Holsteiner champion stallion, Cahil by Cornet Obolensky (Lucas Wenz/GER).
Lot 3, Catalano HaS by Catoki-Uriko, comes from the high-performing mare family 776, as well. He is a half-brother to Nightwish by Nixon van't Meulenhof (Arne van Heel/NED), who attracted attention as most expensive lot of the Holsteiner Elite Ridden Auction and Holsteiner 2024 State Champion. His second dam, Shamrock by Canturo, has made a name for herself for her excellent produce including Crunch by Clarimo (Rolf-Göran Bengtsson/SWE), Dito by Diarado (Denis Lynch/IRL) and the former most expensive elite auction lot, Zucceros by Zuccero HV (Alonso Valdez Prado/PER).
Another highly-promising young talent is lot 22, Kansall B by Kantato-Calido I from the proven Lord mare family, 1298. His second dam is a half-sister to internationally successful Zaccorado Blue by Zirocco Blue (David Will/GER). Moreover, the direct dam line has produced top horses such as Baxxter by Breitling (Richard Vogel/GER) and Lucy la Douce by Colman (Katharina von Essen/GER) and impressively confirms the concentration of high level sport performance within this mare family.
