Elite Foal Auction Sale: 28 Foals Sold at 10,000 Euros or More

The Elmshorn elite foal hybrid auction sale comprising a 64-strong choice lot saw hip no 1, Coelho by Chacco-Blue-Kannan, knocked down at 28,500 Euros.

The hammer for the second-most expensive lot, Constantin by Crack-Contender fell at 17,500 euros. While his sire has been making headlines for his barnstorming victories at the Elmshorn state championship and the Warendorf national championship, this colt’s mare family has also produced top athletes like Chijioke (Chantal Huwiler), N-Carentana BB (Niklaus Schurtenberger) and Chaka Chaka (Janne Friederike Meyer-Zimmermann). Virginia by Vingino-Uriko was worth 16,000 euros to her new owners, with the b-Horses GmbH managed by Fabian Kühl securing this filly along with two other foals, hip no 13, Madonna by Mumbai v.d. Moerhoeve-Cayado, and hip no 39, Heavy Metal by Hardrock Z-Clearway. The highest priced dressage foal was Vaderland’s Liebe by Vaderland-Aljano, as this lithe and supple filly sold to the USA for 15,500 euros. 28 of the sold foals realized 10,000 euros or more. “With this top result we – meaning first and foremost our breeders – can measure up to the 2020 elite auction sale“, executive director Roland Metz is happy to say. The average price was about 9,700 euros. “The ratio of sold horses was very high at about 80 Percent, even though the sale of hip no 1, Coelho, did not come about“, Metz sums up. Coelho is to stay with his owners, Trakehner stud farm Gut Staffelde, to be produced as a stallion.

The next highlight on the Holsteiner Verband marketing and auction GmbH calendar is scheduled as soon as next weekend, with eleven foals to be put to auction during the Hamburg leg of the Global Champions Tour held in the Derby Park on Saturday 28 August.
