Nine Holsteiner foals are going to enter the jumping arena at the CSI hosted at Janne Friederike Meyer-Zimmermann and Christoph Zimmermann’s Hof Waterkant in Pinneberg on Saturday night (5 August) to be knocked down to new owners through a hybrid auction sale. If they are to follow in their relatives’ hoof steps, this could be the first stage of an impressive future career.
All of these foals boast relatives with excellent performance records and impressive pedigrees: there is lot 1, a granddaughter to Marcus Ehning’s 1.60m level jumping mare Gitania, Coco Chanel by Carrera VDL. The auction proceeds for this filly bred by the Meyer-Zimmermann family are to be donated to Skill Up!, a Welthungerhilfe initiative. Legendary Carthago is being represented by his daughter Rarität SR (lot 2) and auction lot 4, Cornet’s Way by Cornet Obolensky, is a half-brother to Uricas v/d Kattevennen, the recent winner of the Riesenbeck Longines grand prix with Harrie Smolders. The second dam to lot 12, Cavalor, a Casall colt, is a full sister to Bella Donna: under Meredith Michaels-Beerbaum she not only finished third at Aachen, but also competed at the London Olympics. Moreover, this mare family has produced licensed stallions and numerous international elite sport horses like for example Limonchello NT by Lord Caletto (Christian Kukuk/GER) or Casalido by Casall (Hendrik Sosath/GER).
Presentation on Friday and Saturday
The foals to be sold in the auction – which is carried out jointly by Holsteiner and Hannoveraner Verband – are publicly presented for the first time in the afternoon on Friday, 4 August, at about 5:30pm. On the day of the auction, on 5 August 2023, prospective buyers are given another opportunity to have a closer look at their favourites during the Theurer Trucks Master Grand Prix at about 6:15pm, before the hybrid auction kicks off at about 8:15pm. All information on the foals, including photos, videos, and relatives’ performance records is available for viewing on www.holsteiner.auction. Should you have any questions, do not hesitate to contact Felix Flinzer (phone: +49 162-3493942) at any time. Horse show tickets are available at the box office; entry is free for kids and teens under 18.
