On 13 and 14 August, the dressage component of the eventing competition at the FEI World Championships took place in Aachen. The Holsteiners impressively demonstrated why they top the WBFSH world rankings in this discipline.
Julia Krajewski (GER) and Nickel by Numero Uno-Lorentin (Hinrick Stüvel, Rosengarten), line 4303, took the lead in the field of 88 with the best score of 22.0 points.
Close behind, with 22.8 points, were double Olympic champion Laura Collett (GBR) and London by Landos-Quinar (Ocke Riewerts, Föhr), line 3200. In fifth place were their team-mates Tom McEwen and JL Dublin by Diarado-Canto (Volker Göttsche-Götze, Groß Buchwald), line 1907, with 26.5 points.
The former Holsteiner auction horse and former Bundeschampion Lillet by Livello-Calido I (Morena Petersen, Ahrenviöl), line 776, secured eighth place with Tamra Smith (USA) on 27.0 points. Ninth place went to Senor Cocodrillo by Connor-Exorbitant xx (Anke Siewertsen, Föhr), line 5953, and Jonelle Price (NZL), with 27.2 points.
Carlito’s Quidditch K by Quiwi Dream-Cassini I (Miriam Kühl, Broderstorf), line 6082, also put in a very strong performance, finishing eleventh with Malin Hansen-Hotopp (GER) and 28.6 points.
This means that, following the dressage, five Holsteiners are among the top ten at the World Championships – with Nickel leading the way.
On Saturday 15 August at 9.15 am, the first horse will set off on the cross-country course at Aachen’s Soers.
