The World Breeding Federation for Sport Horses (WBFSH) has published its 2026 rankings. In show jumping, Bull Run’s Jireh by Uriko and his breeder Timm Peters (Bargenstedt) top the list. In eventing, Diabolo by Diarado and Fritz Maschmann (Wrohe) take second place. In the studbook rankings, the Holsteiner Breeders’ Association (Verband der Holsteiner Züchter e.V.) claims second place (eventing) and third place (show jumping). Diarado by Diamant de Semilly-Corrado I (Kristensen Klaus Thingholm, DEN-Ulstrup) continues to lead the sire rankings for eventing.
“For my family and me, this award is something very special,” says Timm Peters. “I took over the stud from my father 26 years ago, and since then we have enjoyed a few successes, but also experienced some setbacks. To now top this globally recognised ranking with Jireh fills us with pride and gratitude.” A few years ago, Timm Peters purchased a filly
from the late Elfriede Bornholdt in Moorrege, a filly that was to have a lasting impact on his breeding programme: Conella by Colman-Contender from line 890. He repeatedly bred the bay mare to Uriko. And that was to prove a very good decision. She gave birth to Jireh in her very first year. Lena Glisic had once introduced Bull Run’s Jireh to the sport under the name Uno – just like many horses from the Peters’ breeding programme. At the age of eight, the Holsteiner then moved to Kristen Vanderveen (USA) and has been going from strength to strength ever since. The pair also impressively underlined their class in the 2026 season: highlights included victory in the CSI5* Grand Prix in Doha, as well as other significant successes, including a win in a 1.60-metre class as part of the Global Champions Tour in Rome.
In this year’s overall rankings, the Holsteiners and their breeders have secured the bronze medal in show jumping. This was thanks to these six horses, which scored the most points:
Bull Run’s Jireh by Uriko-Colman (Timm Peters, Bargenstedt), line 890, ridden by Kristen Vanderveen (USA) in 1st place
Casturano by Castelan I-Canturo (Reimer Detlef Hennings, Bendorf), line 318D1, with Conor Swail (IRL) in 12th place
Cloudio by Casall-Cassini I (Heike Arendt, Sollwitt), line 5889, ridden by Richard Vogel (GER) in 12th place
Cornwall BH by Con Air-Cambridge (Jessica Morgenroth, Krummesse), line 4025, ridden by David Blake (USA) in 30th place
Theo by Christian Calando IV (Jenny Abrahamson, SWE-Karlskrona), line 8856, ridden by Conor Swail (IRL) in 42nd place
Carissimo by Cascadello I-Clinton I (Sport A Media S.R.O., SLO-Vinicne), line 2666
Holstein also enjoys international success in eventing
Holsteiner horses are proving successful at international level not only in show jumping but also in eventing. In the 2026 WBFSH eventing rankings, six Holsteiners feature amongst the top 26 horses, placing the Holsteiner Verband in second place.
In second place in the breeder rankings is Diabolo by Diarado-Aljano, bred by Fritz Maschmann of Wrohe, who, just like Bull Run’s Jireh, is a representative of the Holsteiner line 890. Under William Coleman (USA), the gelding has been among the world’s best for several years. This year, the pair won the bronze medal with the team at the World Championships in Aachen and secured a strong fourth place in the individual competition.
In this year’s overall stud book rankings, the Holsteiners and their breeders are in second place in eventing. This was secured by these six horses with the highest points totals:
Diabolo by Diarado-Aljano (Fritz Maschmann, Wrohe), line 890, and William Coleman (USA) in 2nd place
London by Landos-Quinar (Ocke Riewerts, Föhr), line 3200, and Laura Collett (GBR) in 11th place
JL Dublin by Diarado out of Canto (Volker Göttsche-Götze, Groß Buchwald), line 1907, and Tom McEwen (GBR) in 20th place
Carlitos Quidditch K by Quiwi Dream-Cassini I (Miriam Kühl, Broderstorf), line 6082, and Malin Hansen-Hotopp (GER) in 21st place
Cartania by Cartani-Clinton (Günther Koch, Vollerwick), line 2895, and Felix Vogg (SUI) in 22nd place
Commando by Connor-Amigo xx (Joachim Siebke, Thumby), line 268, and Boyd Martin (USA) in 26th place
