Whilst at national level last weekend’s Bundeschampionat in Warendorf focused entirely on Germany’s best young horses, a number of well-known Holsteiners enjoyed success and victories on the international stage.
Leading the way once again was Bull Run’s Jireh by Uriko-Colman (Timm Peters, Bargenstedt), line 890, who showed how it’s done: riding fast and clear. At the CSI5* in Brussels, the Stephex Masters, he and Kristen Vanderveen (USA) rode clear in Friday’s main jumping competition over 1.55 metres, finishing two and a half seconds faster than the second- and third-placed riders, Cian O’Conner and Richard Vogel. Monaco by Cassini II-Contender (Ralf Lütje, Haseldorf), line 429, and Harrie Smolders (NED) also achieved a ‘double clear’ in this jumping competition and finished sixth. There was also a reunion in Brussels with Bull Run’s Mary by Adagio de Talma-Cassini I (Rasmus Lüneburg, Hetlingen), line 18B1. The nine-year-old Holsteiner was introduced to the sport by her breeder and has been with Kristen Vanderveen for some time. The pair finished fourth in a 1.45-metre show jumping competition in Brussels.
A CSI5* event was also held in Bridgehampton (USA). In the 1.60-metre Grand Prix, three Holsteiners ranked among the top ten: Barclino B by Bracley-Lasino (Hans Brinkop, Neumünster), line 4564, and Skylar Wireman (USA) came fourth, whilst Carissimo by Cascadello I-Clinton (Sport A Media, SLO-Vinicne) and Aaron Vale (USA) came fifth, whilst Dax by Dinken-Corrado I (Dirk Georg Jessen, Jardelund), line 8793, and Tanimara Maria Macari Carrillo (MEX) came tenth.
Meanwhile, in Gijón, Spain, a new rider-horse combination took to the arena and immediately secured a victory. We are talking about Juri Mansur and My Lady Lavista by Mylord Carthago-Levisto (Klaus-Peter Wiepert, Neuratjensdorf), line 7369. Only recently, a pupil of the Brazilian rider had taken over the Holsteiner mare from Janne-Friederike Meyer-Zimmermann. Now Juri Mansur was initially in the saddle himself on the mare.
