Holsteiner Horse Days: Breed, Sport, Auction & Culture Events

From 10 to 14 June, the Holsteiner Verband’s Westerstrasse premises will become a meeting point for Holsteiner and horses sport enthusiasts and breeders with the Holsteiner Horse Days offering a varied five-day programme with high-calibre sport and breed events, foal auction and entertainment for the entire family.

The Holsteiner State Championships, the qualifiers for the Bundeschampionat, the traditional Verband mare show as well as dressage and jumping classes take centre stage. Wednesday and Thursday are all about dressage, scheduling the state championships for dressage in addition to the qualifiers for the Bundeschampionat for the three-and four-year.old riding horses.

Focus on young jumping horses
From Friday onward, the focus will shift to the Verband’s established core discipline: high-class show jumping. The qualifiers for the state championships and a jumping class at S* level on Friday evening precede the weekend’s sport events, followed by a sundowner cocktail session certain to generate good vibes.

Visitors can expect another special highlight on Saturday, with the Holsteiner foal auction to start around 3 pm, after the first jumping champions have been determined. Saturday evening offers another jumping highlight with the 1.45m level grand prix. Afterwards, the bull riding contest promises great entertainment with the ‘Holsteiner Titans’ competing against each other in an unfamiliar saddle.

Spotlight on Holstein’s Mares
On Sunday, the spotlight is on the best Verband mares born in 2022 and 2023, as the Verband in-hand mare show will see the crowning of the champion mares before the five- and six-year-olds compete for the state champion titles.

Visitors can expect multiple activities beyond sport and breed. Whilst adults may enjoy cocktails on Friday and the bull riding contest on Saturday, young visitors may look forward to a bouncy castle and face painting. The big marquee offers a taste of the Mediterranean while other food and drink outlets serve crepes, soft ice, Asian street food and barista coffee. A Jazz concert held at the back part of the former racetrack from 11am to 3 pm constitutes Sunday’s cultural highlight – admission is free.

Access to the Holsteiner horse days is free on all days of the event.

The entire auction foal lot is available for viewing on www.holsteiner.auction. Anyone unable to attend in person can watch the Holsteiner horse days via livestream on ClipMyHorse.tv.
