As of October 1 2023, Lucas Wenz will enrich the team of riders at Holsteiner Verband Hengsthaltungs GmbH. The 24-year-old currently lives and works near Stuttgart at his grandparents' facility, where his family runs a sport, training and trading stable.
Lucas Wenz grew up in the state of Hesse. He competed in German Youth Championships, took professional stints in the U.S. and at Andreas Kreutzer's stables in Damme before moving with his family to the Ludwigsburg/Stuttgart area of Baden-Württemberg. His father, Marcus Wenz, is the equipe trainer of the Luxembourg team. Lucas Wenz holds the Golden Riding Badge and is highly successful internationally at 1.50 meter level. Most recently, for example, he was second in the U25 Grand Prix of Mannheim and also placed in other U25 show jumping competitions in Balve. The correct training of young horses is particularly close to his heart, he said. "I am very much looking forward to the new task with these highly interesting stallions in terms of sport," said Wenz.
Jens Klöppel will leave the stallion stable at the end of September. "On behalf of the entire team, I thank Jens for his conscientious work and wish him all the best," says Managing Director Sebastian Rohde. "With Lucas Wenz, we will henceforth have a very accomplished young athlete in the team who already has a tremendous track record," he says, looking positively at the future cooperation.
